Remarks from the March 29 "Farmington Libraries Lecture Series" Featuring Professor Jeremy Suri's latest book "Henry Kissinger and the American Century".
Thank you for attending our three dimensional event on this clear, sunny, crisp March afternoon. It is wonderful to be able to have Professor Jeremy Suri here today at Farmington. Jeremy is currently professor of history at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He presents a tremendously insightful view of Henry Kissinger in his latest book Henry Kissinger and the American Century". Harvard University Press, 2007). Dr. Suri has also written The Global Revolutions of 1968 (W.W. Norton, 2006). As well as many academic papers and lectures on "international history"
Jeremy defines "international history" broadly. His research examines the interactions between states, peoples, and cultures -- especially in the twentieth century. He writes that he is interested in the decisions of leaders and institutions, as well as the influence of ideas and social movements. It addition to his academic pursuits, Dr. Suri has a wife and family who are anxiously awaiting his return to Madison.
